About Trending Towns
When it comes to choosing a place to call “home,” you might not always make the best choice. But, with the right information, you can certainly make a better choice.
At Trending Towns, we provide quality resources on topics like hazardous sites, water quality, and air quality. Whether you’re moving down the street or out of state, we want to help you make an informed decision.
“We provide information people need to move with confidence.”
When my wife and I searched for our first home, we entrusted our realtor with finding and showing us houses in relatively nice, safe areas. We were new in town, so we did some research of our own, but we relied primarily on our realtor’s professional judgment when deciding which home would be best for our family.
We purchased a house in a beautiful location outside of Denver. We settled in quickly and began the next phase of our lives together.
We were happy until, almost a year later, we discovered our new home was located less than three miles from the Superfund Site known as Rocky Flats.
Superfund Sites, like Rocky Flats, are areas contaminated with hazardous substances and, according to the EPA, need to be cleaned up and managed to protect people and the environment from potential harm.
The cleanup effort at Rocky Flats was substantially complete before our house was built. However, I can positively say if we were made aware of the site’s history during our home search, we would have chosen to live elsewhere.
This experience left us wondering where we went wrong in our hunt for the perfect home. Even after consulting a realtor and searching through popular real estate sites like Zillow, we still didn’t have all the information necessary to make an informed home buying decision.
We created Trending Towns because we don’t want you to find yourself in a similar situation. We strive to provide you with the relevant resources you need to feel confident about where you choose to move.
